Canvas Grid Functionality

 

Grid support helps designers align and organize visuals precisely on the canvas using an underlying layout structure.

 

Overview


  1. Grid is available for Rubisight Designers
  2. The grid is visible only in Edit Mode
  3. It helps in maintaining consistent spacing and alignment
  4. Works together with Snap to Grid for precise placement

How to Access

  1. Go to Page Formatting Options
  2. Expand Grid
  3. Enable and use the options

 

 

Available Options

  • Snap to Grid

  1. Grid can be used with or without use of ‘Snap to Grid’ option.
  2. Disabled ‘Snap to Grid’ provide users only the grid for alignment. Users need to align the chart properly.
  3. Snap to Grid allows users to automatically aligns visuals to the nearest grid lines while moving or resizing

  • Size
  1. Defines the spacing between grid lines (controls grid density)

    • Color
    1. Sets the visual color of the grid lines for better visibility

      • Line Style (Solid / Dot)
          • Allows choosing between continuous or dotted grid lines for visual preference


      As seen from above Figure, Solid gridlines are visible to the user and Snap to Grid has aligned the chart in proper grids.


      Behavior

      1. Grid acts as a visual alignment guide
      2. Snap to Grid ensures consistent positioning without manual adjustment
      3. Helps create clean, professional layouts


      Notes

      1. Grid is only visible during editing, not in view mode
      2. Grid settings are page-specific
      3. Grid is supported for all page sizes and Scale to Fit options
      4. This functionality is not considered in Edit level functionalities like Export chart to PDF, Export Dashboard in PDF/PPT. The exported PDF/PPT won’t show the Grids even if they are enabled for the page.
      5. Saved dashboard with Enabled Grid won’t display in other modes than Edit mode.
