Drill Through with Keep All Filters

Drill Through: Keep All Filters (Page Setting)

Overview

  • Keep All Filters is a page-level setting available under:
    • Format → Drill Through

  • This toggle controls whether all existing filters from the source page (which are applied on the source widget) are carried to the drilled (target) page.

Default Behavior

  • The toggle is enabled (ON) by default
  • Ensures full context preservation during drill-through navigation

When Keep All Filters = ON

  • All active filters from the source are carried forward, including:
    • Page-level filters
    • Widget-level filters
    • Filter widget selections

Filter Handling

  • Categorical Filters
    • Passed as selected values
  • Numerical Filters
    • Passed as Min–Max range
  • Date Filters
    • Passed as Between (start–end range)

Where Filters Are Applied

  • All carried filters are added into:
    • Drill Through Filter Pane on the target page

Behavior Summary

  • Drill-through = Selected category + All applied filters
  • Provides complete context continuity

Example (Keep All Filters ON)

  • Source Page Chart:
    • Region = Europe (Drilled Category from chart)
  • Page Filter:
    • Category = Groceries, Furniture
    • Profit filter = 0 – 1000

  • User performs Ctrl + Click → Drill Through
  • Target Page:
    • Region = Europe (from chart selection)
    • Category = Groceries, Furniture (carried)
    • Sales = 0,1000 (range carried)

When Keep All Filters = OFF

  • Only chart-specific drilled values are passed

Behavior

  • Filters carried:
    • Only the selected category (or plotted value) from the chart
  • Filters NOT carried:
    • Page filters
    • Widget Filters
    • Filter widget values

Behavior Summary

  • Drill-through = Only selected chart value
  • No additional filtering context is preserved

Example (Keep All Filters OFF)

  • Source Page:
    • Region = Europe
  • Page Filters
    • Category = Groceries
    • Sales filter = 1000–5000
  • User drills from:
    • Region = Europe
  • Target Page:
    • Only Region = Europe is applied
    • Category and Sales filters are not carried

Important Notes

  • The target page’s toggle setting determines behavior
  • Filters are always applied within:
    • Drill Through Filters panel
  • Works across:
    • Multiple filter types (categorical, numerical, date)

Summary

  • ON → Full filter context is preserved
  • OFF → Only drilled category/value is passed
