Overlap Option in Data Labels
Overview
- An Overlap toggle option is available in Data
Labels settings to control the visibility of overlapping data labels on
charts.
- The visibility of data labels depends on factors such as
available chart space, font size, number of data points, and label placement.
In scenarios with limited space, some labels may be automatically hidden to
avoid overlap and maintain chart readability.
- Enabling the Overlap option allows data labels to be
displayed for all data points, even when labels overlap on the chart.
Functionality
Overlap Toggle in Data Labels
When the Overlap option is enabled:
- Data
labels are displayed for all data points on the chart.
- Labels
that are normally hidden due to insufficient space or overlap conditions
are rendered.
- Overlapping
labels are allowed to appear on the chart regardless of chart density or
font size settings.
Benefits
- Ensures
visibility of all data point values.
- Useful
for charts containing dense datasets or multiple data points.
- Helps
users analyze all available values without automatic label suppression.
For Overlap Toggle set False:
Data Labels for some plotted data points are not displayed.
For Overlap Toggle set True:
Data Label for all the data points are displayed.
Notes
- Overlapping
labels may reduce chart readability in highly dense visualizations.
- It
is recommended to use appropriate chart dimensions and font sizes for
improved visibility.
- This
option is applicable wherever data labels are supported in charts.
