Support Aggregations for Categorical/Dimension Columns in Table

Support Aggregations for Categorical/Dimension Columns in Table

For categorical columns or Dimensions, the aggregation option is available while configuring Table chart.

This option is available for getting the aggregated values with Count, Count (Distinct) values for all types of Dimension columns- dataset columns, calculated columns, date subcolumns.

Below are the steps to set aggregation for the categorical column:

1.     Configure Table chart with Dimension columns.

2.     Hover on the dimension column to get the gear icon.

3.     Click on gear column to get the aggregation options as below:

4.     Select any of the aggregations- Count, Count (Distinct). None is the default aggregation available and applied for the column.

5.     Click Plot

6.     Observe the values.

Figure 3: Values with Dimension column Aggregation

The Region column is plotted with Count aggregation. Hence the values are displayed in Numbers showing the count of Regions aggregated with Item Type and Country.

If required, the aggregations can be set with Percentage enabled as below:

Figure 4: Percentage option with Aggregation

This configuration shows the Table as below:

Note that, this column is considered as Numerical and in chart formatters, Column >> select the column >> Observe the options- Numerical column options are available to configure this column further. These options are available when Percentage configuration is enabled/disabled.
