Securing Your Data at Every Level: Introducing Rubisight’s Data Level Security

In the digital age, data governance and security have emerged as paramount concerns for organizations across industries. With the proliferation of data breaches and regulatory requirements, safeguarding sensitive information and ensuring compliance has become more critical than ever. Recognizing the importance of data governance and security, Rubisight, Rubiscape’s flagship data visualization platform, offers robust features designed to fortify your data infrastructure and protect your most valuable asset—your data.

Why Data Level Security is needed-?
Data Level Security is a fundamental aspect of any comprehensive security strategy, focusing on protecting data at its most granular level. By implementing Data Level Security measures, organizations can control access to sensitive data, enforce privacy policies, and mitigate the risk of unauthorized access or data breaches.

Using Data Level Security-

  1. RubiSight provides a Data Level Security feature, which helps to restrict access to the data in dashboards.
  2. You can define column-level access on the database, which will show data of only the allowed columns.
  3. To use Data level security, you first need to create a dataset (access master) that stores the information about users and groups and the corresponding data fields they are allowed to access.

Creating Access Master Dataset-

  1. To create an access master dataset, follow the steps given below.Create a CSV or Excel file of the format: user info and names of columns from the datasets used in the dashboard.
  2. In each individual dataset column names, specify the names of data values to which access is to be granted to the user.

Enabling Data Level Security-

  1. Locate the dashboard to which you want to apply data-level security.
  2. Open the Dashboard in edit mode.
  3. The Dashboard is displayed. On the function pane, in the top right corner, click Data Level Security. Data Level Security page is displayed.
  4. Select the dataset from Dataset To configure drop-down. Here, select the name of the dataset created in Creating Access Master Dataset. The columns in the selected dataset are populated.
  5. Select Entity Column (the one that has user names or group names) from the drop-down.
  6. Select ENABLE DATA LEVEL SECURITY checkbox.
  7. Click Done.

Live Example-
Here, the user pritesh.surolia@inteliment.com has the access to all the product category.

Here, the user Hrishikesh.shirodkar@inteliment.com had the access to only 4 product categories, which can be observed in the image.

In conclusion, Rubisight’s Data Level Security features provide organizations with the tools they need to secure their data at every level, from row-level and column-level access controls to dynamic data masking and seamless integration with authentication providers. With Rubisight, organizations can confidently leverage the power of data visualization while ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of their data assets.
